Celebrating the Sacrament of Baptism
After Jesus was Baptised, He heard a voice from Heaven saying, “You are my beloved Son”(Mark 1:9-11)
Baptism is the Sacrament which begins our lives as Christians – it is a welcome into the Christian Community, and for your child in particular, into the community of St Martha’s where we join with you in celebrating your child’s Baptism and welcome into the Catholic Faith.
Baptisms are scheduled at St Martha’s on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at 11:00 am – following the 10.00am Mass. (One month’s notice is required). Alternatively, we can arrange for you to have your child’s Baptism during one of our regular weekend masses. (Please note: Baptisms will not be held on Sundays where the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation are scheduled.
Before your child can be Baptised at St Martha’s, parents are required to attend a Baptism Preparation Session held in the Parish Hall at 9.15am, generally of the first Sunday of the month. The Parish Hall is located just up the stairs in the grounds of the school – enter from Churchill Avenue). Attendance at this session is Compulsory. Preparation is necessary to better learn and understand the meaning of this beautiful Sacrament. After the preparation meeting you are welcome to move across to the Church and join us for Mass at 10.00am.
Please contact the Parish Office on 9746 6131 (option 2) if you would like an Information Booklet and Application Form.
