Baptism
After Jesus was Baptised, He heard a voice from Heaven saying, “You are my beloved Son”(Mark 1:9-11)
Baptism is the Sacrament which begins our lives as Christians – it is a welcome into the Christian Community, and for your child in particular, into the community of St Martha’s where we join with you in celebrating your child’s Baptism and welcome into the Catholic Faith.
Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month at 11.00am (immediately following the 10.00am Mass). It is important to note that Baptisms will not be held on Sundays where Sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation are scheduled. One month’s notice is required and you can contact the Parish Office to confirm that your requested date is available. To obtain an Information Booklet and Enrolment Form please see Fr John personally after any of the weekday or weekend Masses.
Baptismal Preparation
Before your child can be Baptised at St Martha’s, you will need to participate in a Baptism Preparation Session which is generally held on a Monday evening with Fr John. (Attendance is compulsory). The meeting generally takes an hour where the meaning of Baptism and its symbols, the requirements for the Godparents, together with the formalities for the day of your child’s Baptism will be outlined.
Please contact the Parish Office on 9746 6131 (option 2)
if you would like an Information Booklet and Application Form.
